Moravian Star Two

Continued

7. Resize your image to 90%, but BE SURE that "Resize all layers" is UNCHECKED! Go to effects>sharpen>sharpen.

8. Move your star to the center of the canvas and duplicate the resized layer. Using the deformation tool, rotate the duplicate star until the points are centered between the points of the original star. Go to effects>sharpen>sharpen.

Deformation tool

9. Duplicate the rotated layer, then resize it by 85% (Resize all layers is STILL unchecked). Using the deformation tool rotate this layer and position it so that the star points are centered as closely as possible between the points of the two lower stars.

NOTE: This one is going to be difficult to position, and I don´t think you can get the points centered exactly, just do your best.

Go to effects>sharpen>sharpen. Your image should now look something like this.

Triple multi-pointed stat

10. Repeat Step 9, except this time resize your layer by 80%. Sharpen.

11. Repeat Step 9, except this time resize your layer by 70%. Sharpen. Layers, merge visible.

The Ring

12. Move your star down to the bottom of your canvas so you´ll have room to work. Create a new layer. Grab your Selection tool, the Circle shape, feather "0", and draw a small circle on top of your ornament. Flood fill it with White. Go to Selections>Modify>Contract, 5 pixels. Hit your delete key. Deselect.

13. Tap the small ring with your Magic Wand, then repeat the Sculpture Effect you used in Step #4. Move the ring into place on top of the star. This is what you should have:

Hanger ring

14. Layers, Merge Visible. Your Ornament is finished. You can resize it now, add a background and export it as a JPEG or export it as a transparent GIF.

NOTE: While I was writing this tutorial, I noticed that depending on how many colors you use, 2, 4 or 8, you will get a completely different look to each ornament. Try it for yourself and have fun! :O)
