Now click the arrow, and in the flyout, select "Blue spruce".
Note: "Blue Spruce" is a texture which came with PSP8, and isn't one of the regular Bump Maps used by Balls and Bubbles.
In order to use it with the Balls and Bubbles Effect, you will need to edit the path that the effect uses to access images. If you don't know how to do this, go here .
If you use the Blue Spruce texture for your bitmap, at this point your image should look something like this:
Wow! What a change. The only problem is, now I don't like the color that we set "Light 4" to on the illumination tab, and I want more shine to the surface. Let's fix that.
9. Click on the illumination tab again, and scroll down to Light 4. Change the color to #800000 and the "Ambience Maximum" to "50".
10. O.K., that takes care of the color, now to add shine. Click on the "Add" button, and we will get "Light 5". Make the color #D9D9D9, the highlight size is "15", the Ambience Maximum is "50" and the Ambience Minimum is "0".
Note: You can also remove lights if you want.
Note2: You can move the light around, by placing your mouse cursor over the blue ball. A 4-way arrow will appear (Unfortunately, it won't show up in a screen shot.). Use it to move the ball around to change the direction of the highlight.
Well, this is what I ended up with after completing step 10. I liked it so much, I added an ornament topper and a hook.
As you can see from the little bit we've done here, you could play around in this effect for hours and never come up with the same thing twice. We didn't change anything on the Shape tab for this image, and that's yet another entire group of possible effects.
Here are some of the effects my tester Nina Brown came up with:
Speaking of Nina, I would like to thank her for testing these tutorials. She was very instrumental in helping me to fine tune this tutorial so you would find it easy to follow. Thanks a bunch Nina! :)
A few more presets that I made:
A polished copper look
Same preset as the polished copper, but the "Automatic multiple balls or bubbles" radio button was checked on the shapes tab.
I think this one looks a bit like jade.
I just like this one. :)
As you can see, the possibilities seem endless. I hope I've given you some idea of how to use Balls and Bubbles, and the inspiration to create new presets. Now go play with it and have fun!
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.
